چکیده

Thermal noise in amorphous coatings is a limitation for wide range of precision experiments such as gravitational-wave detectors (GWDs). Mirrors GWDs are composed multiple thin layers dielectric materials deposited on substrate: the stack made with high-refractive index interleaved low-refractive index. The goal to obtain high reflectivity and low thermal noise. In this paper we report optical mechanical properties ion-beam-sputtered aluminium fluoride (${\mathrm{Al}\mathrm{F}}_{3}$) films that have one lowest refractive indexes among known coating discuss their application current future GWDs.

Squeezed-field injection for gravitational wave interferometers

In a recent table-top experiment we demonstrated the compatibility of three advanced interferometer techniques for gravitational wave detection, namely power-recycling , detuned signal-recycling and squeezed field injection. The interferometer’s signal to noise ratio was improved by up to 2.8 dB beyond the coherent state’s shot-noise. This value was mainly limited by optical losses on the squee...

Sensitivity Curves for Spaceborne Gravitational Wave Interferometers

To determine whether particular sources of gravitational radiation will be detectable by a specific gravitational wave detector, it is necessary to know the sensitivity limits of the instrument. These instrumental sensitivities are often depicted ~after averaging over source position and polarization! by graphing the minimal values of the gravitational wave amplitude detectable by the instrumen...

Effect of Annealing Temperature and Oxygen Flow in the Properties of Ion Beam Sputtered SnO2−x Thin Films

Tin oxide (SnO2-x) thin films were prepared under various flow ratios of O₂/(O₂ + Ar) on unheated glass substrate using the ion beam sputtering (IBS) deposition technique. This work studied the effects of the flow ratio of O₂/(O₂ + Ar), chamber pressures and post-annealing treatment on the physical properties of SnO₂ thin films. It was found that annealing affects the crystal quality of the fil...

Quantum Noise in Gravitational-wave Interferometers

We present an overview of quantum noise in gravitational wave interferometers. Current gravitational wave detectors are modified variants of a Michelson interferometer and the quantum noise limits are strongly influenced by the optical configuration of the interferometer. We describe recent developments in the treatment of quantum noise in the complex interferometers of present-day and future g...

Ion beam synthesis of superconducting MgB2 thin films

Superconducting MgB2 thin films have been fabricated by 80 keV B ion implantation into commercial Mg ribbon with B doses up to 10 ions/cm, followed by thermal annealing at 500 °C. Temperature dependent dc magnetization measurements confirmed superconducting phase transitions between 11 and 18 K for samples containing nanocrystalline MgB2 grains embedded in Mg substrate with a small amount of Mg...
